Leven Thumps by Obert Skye

Leven Thumps has five books in the series and is what I think is the best book Obert Skye has ever written. They were simply amazing!

Obert Sky has a talent with not only writing, but developing the characters he has created. My favorite character throughout the whole book is Clover, Leven's friend and Sycophant. He helps Leven throughout his journeys and is defiantly the loyal loyalist character in the book. Even though the book is focused and written in Leven and Winter's point of views, without Clover, the book wouldn't be as exciting. (Clover is the creature in Geth's hair bellow!)

Sometimes, when there is lots of books in a series, the books can drag on and become unlikable. This is not the case in Leven Thumps. In each book, or two, there is a new adventure, a new villain, and a new trial that Leven, his friend Winter, and his Sycophant clover, have to over come.

"Fourteen-year-old Leven Thumps (a.k.a. "Lev") lives a wretched life in Burnt Culvert, Oklahoma. But his life is about to change and his destiny be fulfilled as he learns about a secret gateway that bridges two worlds -- the real world and Foo, a place created at the at the beginning of time in the folds of the mind that makes it possible for mankind to dream and hope, aspire and imagine. But Foo is in chaos, and three transplants from that dreamworld have been sent to retrieve Lev, who alone has the power to save Foo.

Leven Thumps is a book I would recommend to both child, teenager, and adult alike. No matter what age you are, I know you will enjoy this series.

The Giver by Lois Lowry

The Giver was written by Lois Lowry, who some may recognize from her award winning book, "Number the Stars." The Giver is an amazing short novel that both my broth and I have read, and liked. This isn't the newest book out there but it is just as well written. It is a quick, yet very enjoyable read.

When Lois Lowry was writing she implied things a lot, but we would never get the real answer until almost the end of the book, or maybe not at all! By the end of this book, I can assure you that you will have a new way of looking at things. You will realize the things that we take for granted everyday, and how important our future really is.

A brief summery:
Jonas's world is perfect. Everything is under control. There is no war or fear of pain. There are no choices. Every person is assigned a role in the community. When Jonas turns 12 he is singled out to receive special training from The Giver. The Giver alone holds the memories of the true pain and pleasure of life. Now, it is time for Jonas to receive the truth. There is no turning back.
Given his lifetime assignment at the Ceremony of Twelve, Jonas becomes the receiver of memories shared by only one other in his community and discovers the terrible truth about the society in which he lives.
I would suggest that if you chose to read this book, you have a book buddy to read with you as well, because let me tell you, this book can get mighty confusing and you might need another perspective on it.

Dave Barry

Dave Barry. I discovered his writing when I was assigned to read some of his work for English class. Now, not only is he the author of some published books, but he is also a columnist.

The few stories of Dave Barry’s that I have read are amazing and incredibly funny! While reading it, I could almost hear the excitement, sarcasm, and seriousness in his voice. Though his stories might have been normal everyday stories at first, when he told his stories, he wrote exactly what he was thinking. (And let me tell you, he has some really funny thoughts running through his head!) I think what made him a great story teller was the fact that he described everything going on in his head, and though some people may consider getting into someone’s head extremely boring, it is actually very unique and funny.

Protection by Caitlyn Coker

Protection is an Amazing book written by the one and only Caitlyn Coker! (Can I get a round of applause?)
Caitlyn Coker has the really spectacular gift of writing. All her books a absolutely amazing and should be shared with the world.

I really enjoyed Protection, and though Caitlyn's other books are positively amazing, I personally, think this one is the best. I would rate this book a four out of five. The book had amazing detail, and you could really relate to the characters. The characters in this book aren't picture perfect, they have flaws and problem, and in the end, they learn to overcome them. This book isn't only entertaining, but it is also inspiring.

This particular book is so different from many other books because of Caitlyn Coker's ability to avoid profanity, and explicit scenes, yet still show characters actions and developing romance.

Protection takes us back into the 1800's on the Dottie Belle Ranch in Plateau, Arizona. Protection includes a spunky, independent woman called Bliss Cooper, and a handsome, gun fighter by the name of Clint Slade. The two meet when Clint is hired by Bliss's father to protect her from men threatening her life. Through in some romance, Christianity, action, and a childhood friend fighting for Bliss's heart; you're in for one heck of a ride.
